Pertamina to Explore Maratua Block in East Kalimantan

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Pertamina`s subsidiary Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE) and the SKK Migas signed a production sharing contract (PSH) for the Maratua Oil and Gas Working Area. The area is located in Berau Regency, East Kalimantan Province.
The signing was carried out in Jakarta at the Energy SKK Migas Ministry's office by signatories SKK Migas chief Dwi Soetjipto and PHE president director Meidawati. The signing ceremony was witnessed by the Deputy Energy Minister Arcandra Tahar, as well as other government officials and managers of the companies involved.
Meidawati said the exploration block management supports Pertamina's exploration activities commitment in Indonesia. Pertamina's work commitment in Maratua will take the form of geological & geophysical (G & G) and Seismic studies covering an area of 500 square km.
"The Maratua Block in the future will be operated by Pertamina Hulu Energi Offshore Bunyu. We have prepared a long-term block management program to maintain the sustainability of gas supply for Indonesia's domestic needs ", Mediawati said in a written statement, Tuesday, February 19.
Meidawati said that the management scheme in Maratua is the same as with other work areas, which is the Gross Split system. The total investment is US$7.75 million, which includes the Definite Work Commitments and Signature Bonuses.
